Imagine coming back from the dead to discover the love of your life is engaged to someone else. And not just anyone. A Violet. The lovely and treacherous Queen of the Golden Court, Melisande Violet. She's everything Pailei can never be--including Fae. But Pailei knows that Melisande cannot be trusted. And when she tries to tell Bryar that...well. She becomes the first person ever exiled from the Dark Court.
So what's a girl to do? Sneak back into Shar Ta'al, crash the betrothal ball, and challenge the Queen to an old-fashioned Circle match, winner-take-all. Including Mel's crown.
So life may not be grand. But it sure beats the alternative.
