The Broken Abbey

Elsia is the youngest of the Fae royal brood. Her two elder siblings are twins, and even though they are all close, she is sometimes cast as the odd one out. The twins, Caslan and Corinne, were, after all, groomed to lead the Fae Courts--the Dark Court crown for Caslan and the Golden Court for Corinne. But the Golden Court is based in a sentient structure, the grand Ivory Tower that sets a trial for all its Queens, and when Corinne went to face her trial, the Tower rejected her. Quite by accident, Elsia wound up taking the test while everyone was consoling Corinne, and she actually passed the trial. So at the tender age of nine-and-a-half, she was crowned Queen of the Golden Court. The young Queen has been surrounded by excellent advisors, and though no one expected this path for her, she's done well in politics thus far. Her personal life, on the other hand...well.
She was seduced by Lord Snowe at a young age, who once served as Consort to a former Queen of the Golden Court, the malevolent Lady Melisande. Snowe used Elsia to gain power, and would have slain her when her usefulness was expended if not for her brother Caslan's intervention. It nearly cost him his life, though, and caused a rift in the family. Corinne (perhaps already somewhat put out by Elsia's unwitting usurping of the Golden throne), blamed Elsia for everything and informed her that if she ever chose a lover over family again, she would no longer have a family to turn to. For his part, Caslan easily forgave Elsia, as he always took it as his natural role to protect his sisters.
Elsia is also the only necromancer of the three siblings, having inherited that wayward art from her father. However, due to an unfortunate incident across the Veil, she lost her soul, and very nearly her life. Her father was able to bring her back, but her soul was permanently severed from her physical body. The only way they could save it was by tethering it to her in the mortal realm in the form of her shadow-hawk, Ka.
Elsia also has several strange quirks (don't we all?). She is something of an insomniac, and cannot sleep alone. From the time she was able to walk, she would toddle into someone's bed--most times it didn't matter whose, which led to much chaos and hilarity.
She has the least fighting ability of her siblings, mostly due to an nagging knee injury she received when practicing with her brother as a child. To compensate, Caslan designed her a lovely piece of finger armor that actually holds poison in the tip. Anyone she nicks with it will experience paralysis in a matter of moments.
Her most prized possession is a ebony violin her grandmother gave her as a coronation gift. Elsia swears the violin is enchanted, and claims she once used it to "sing souls back to rest," but she can never play it again, as it might send her own detached soul back across the Veil. She does carry it around with her at times, however, and on occasion, can be seen ghosting the bow over the strings without actually touching them, lost in a melody only she can hear.
She recently chose a Consort from among her Knights--Sir Halcyon Dregas. She calls him her "ginger boy" for his red hair, and his calm persona suits her. Their relationship is based on business, really, but Halcyon seems to have developed a genuine affection for his young queen. Elsia has difficulty with emotions since losing her soul, though, and has little hope of ever again feeling anything of real consequence.
The closest she comes these days is a sense of permeating peace in places like this--the Broken Abbey in the Golden Court, with her Consort frolicking in the fountain nearby, Ka keeping watch overhead, and her favorite instrument in hand.
